Easy Breakfast

Posted by Tim / Reviewed on June 6, 2006

Easy Breakfast My absolute favourite place to have brunch in the city is Easy Breakfast on Queen West near Roncesvalles. A nominee in our inaugural Best of Indie Toronto poll, Easy impresses because of diner style booths, chilled atmosphere and its fabulous signature dish, the huevos divorciados.

While there's lots to choose from on the menu, I now pretty much get the same thing whenever I go there - and I'm someone who likes variety. With ancho chile jam, great guacamole, pico de gallo and the option to upgrade to spelt toast, the divorciados is the best version of huevos rancheros to come out of this city since the closing of the XXX.

Other stuff on the menu includes Easy's spin on the breakfast staples (eggs, pancakes etc.), breakfast burritos and more lunchable items like sandwiches and salads.

good call tim. the huevos is to die for! my only issue with the place is the service. i've had to wait ages for a coffee refill, and some of the staff has a serious attitude problem (while others are quite friendly and helpful)...

see, i have a few places here in montreal that i absolutely love. and call it selfish, but i love them because, not only is the food and atmosphere spectacular, but they're chilled and have very few to no waits and i'd like to do what i can to keep it that way. so when it comes to voting for 'best breakfast' in the mirror and hour polls, i usually skip that field.

I've always loved Easy too, somehow I'm always rushing to get there before they close. Breakfast should be served all day everyday.

Was there for brunch this past weekend. It was noisy, lots of kids screaming. Food was quick, a little pricey for the quality. They only take cash or debit (and if it's debit they don't take President's Choice cards) which isn't specified anywhere, so it's a little annoying to have to go across the street to the bank machine. A simple sign on the door would have made things a lot easier. Probably won't be back.

Go during the week and you will have the place to yourself and dynamite service. Cash is king!

I have been there 3 times and each time we waited nearly an hour for boiled eggs and toast...the service is brutal as well.

I just went there today, and it was OK food, OK service, but they seriously need to revamp their ventilation system because it smelled like dirty street garbage!

Um Lindsay, you know there's a garbage strike on in Toronto, right? I know ventilation should help with that, but Easy can't help that Sunnyside park is a designated dump and is just across the Gardiner from this restaurant.
I had great food and great service when I was there.

I really like this place. The food is good and it's a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. I wish I lived closer to it, I'd be a regular.

Easy is my favourite breakfast place, bar none. Have never had a bad meal and their coffee is simply the best. I don't live in the neighbourhood but it's on my streetcar route so I'm there at least 4 times a week. I've never had issues with the service although waits are a little longer on the weekend when the place is packed.

I may need a 12-step program to break this addiction.

Breakfast/Brunch has been my favourite meal all my life. I don't live anywhere near Easy but the divorciados is THE most delicious breakfast meal I've ever had. I like variety but also find it impossible to order anything else when I am there-it's that good. Great hangover remedy too!! It's very busy on weekends (of course) but have never had to wait an inordinate amount of time. The service is decent, not glowing and it's a little tight but I'm ok with that. It's worth it.
